Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with other prominent figures, attended the wedding Fatiha of Dr. Aisha Kwankwaso, the daughter of former Kano State Governor, Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso, and her groom, Fahad Dahiru-Mangal, on Saturday in Kano.
Among the dignitaries at the ceremony were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, and Senator Adamu Alero.
Other notable personalities included the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar; Minister of Steel, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar; former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki; and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.
Also in attendance were former Governors Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna), Mahamud Shinkafi (Zamfara), Isah Yuguda (Bauchi), Victor Attah (Akwa Ibom), and Lucky Igbinedion (Edo), among others. Prominent senators such as Abdul Ningi, Dino Melaye, and Rufai Hanga were also present.
The wedding, which took place at the Emir’s Palace in Kano, saw a large turnout of well-wishers, including members of the National and State Assemblies, politicians, captains of industry, and members of the diplomatic corps.
The wedding Fatiha was conducted around 12:15 pm by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zaharaddeen. Vice President Shettima, who stood in for the groom, presented the dowry of N1 million to Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano, who represented the bride during the ceremony.
The event, which was attended by notable Islamic scholars and well-wishers from across the country, also showcased the rich cultural heritage of Kano State.
Tight security measures were in place around the Kano metropolis to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
In his prayers, the Chief Imam of Kano wished for unity and prosperity between Dr. Aisha Kwankwaso and her husband, Fahad Dahiru-Mangal, who is the son of a prominent Nigerian business magnate.
The ceremony highlighted the deep cultural and traditional significance of the Emir’s Palace, a historic symbol of Kano’s heritage.
Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the father of the bride, served as the Governor of Kano State from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015.
He has also held the position of Minister of Defence and is currently serving as a Senator in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Kwankwaso is credited with establishing the Kano University of Science and Technology and the North-West University.
