Seyi Tinubu Donates N500 Million to Borno Flood Victims

Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has donated N500 million to assist victims of the recent floods that ravaged 70% of Maiduguri, Borno State, displacing millions of residents. He made the donation during a visit to the state on Friday, where he was joined by his brother, Yinka Tinubu, along with friends and associates to show solidarity with those affected.

While addressing the people of Maiduguri, Seyi said, “We are here today not just as representatives of our family but as part of a collective effort by young Nigerians to bring hope and relief to those who need it most. This is a time for unity, compassion, and immediate action.”

The N500 million donation is part of a larger intervention aimed at providing relief for the flood victims, with Seyi promising that efforts would continue until Maiduguri and Borno State fully recover. He praised the resilience of the people of Borno, saying, “Despite the challenges of the past few years, they have overcome numerous obstacles, which is why this tragedy deserves our collective effort, support, and prayers.”

Seyi noted that the donation was motivated by his father, President Bola Tinubu, who had visited Maiduguri earlier in the week and called on both private individuals and the corporate sector to support affected communities. “Inspired by his call, my wife Layal, through the Noella Foundation, my brother, our friends, and several private sector partners have quickly come together to help those displaced by this disaster,” he explained.

In addition to the N500 million, Seyi and his team provided essential supplies including 10,000 mosquito nets, mattresses, blankets, sanitary products, and medications for nearly 50,000 children and adults. These medical supplies include antimalarials, antibiotics, analgesics, and anti-hypertensive drugs.

Seyi expressed his appreciation for Governor Babagana Zulum’s leadership during this crisis, saying, “I want to thank Governor Zulum for his tireless efforts during this difficult time and everyone working round the clock to ensure that these supplies reach the families in need.”

Governor Zulum, in his response, commended Seyi Tinubu and his team for their generosity and assured them that the donations would be used effectively to support the flood victims.
