The Nigerian Senate has postponed the screening of seven ministerial nominees, initially scheduled for Tuesday.
Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, explained that the postponement allows the nominees to complete all required documentation and pre-screening processes.
The statement, titled “Postponement of Ministerial Screening,” stated: “The scheduled screening of ministerial nominees has been postponed by the Senate.
This is to allow all nominees to conclude all aspects of documentation and pre-screening exercises.” The screening has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 12:00 pm.
The seven nominees recently submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Labour and Employment), Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State, Foreign Affairs), Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade, and Investment), Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development), Yusuf Ata (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad (State, Education).
Nominees and their entourages arrived at the National Assembly complex around 9 am on Tuesday, where many, dressed in formal attire, were seen waiting and capturing photos and videos following the postponement announcement.
