Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, distributed 432 bags of 50kg Urea fertiliser to farmers across the district’s eight Local Government Areas.
The distribution took place at the Senatorial District Constituency Office on Emede-Oleh Road in Emede, Isoko South LGA, Delta State.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Andrew Egunoma, the Senator’s Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties, Social Welfare, and Poverty Alleviation, conveyed the Senator’s message.
He highlighted the importance of the fertiliser in boosting food production, enhancing soil fertility, and supporting economic growth.
Egunoma commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for authorising the fertiliser distribution through the 10th National Assembly members.
He noted the significance of this initiative, especially given the current food shortage crisis.
According to Dr. Egunoma, the fertiliser will provide essential nitrogen to crops, improve yields, enhance produce quality, and reduce the need for frequent soil replenishment.
He urged farmers to use the fertilier effectively and praised President Tinubu for his commitment to food security and grassroots support.
