Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially signed the Year 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, taking what he describes as a pivotal step towards fostering sustainable development across the state.
The newly ratified budget, referred to as the ‘Budget of Sustainability’, carries a total budget size of ₦3.37 trillion and aims to consolidate previous achievements while preparing for future challenges.
In a statement following the signing, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that a significant portion of the budget will be allocated to capital expenditure.
This commitment is geared towards investing in transformative projects that will drive economic growth and uplift the quality of life for residents.
The governor highlighted the administration’s focus on critical sectors including infrastructure, innovation, and sustainable development to create a flourishing Lagos.
The recurrent expenditure set at ₦1.30 trillion is meticulously planned to ensure the effective functioning of government operations, while also prioritizing vital areas such as education, healthcare, and security.
This strategic balance reflects the state government’s dedication to fiscal responsibility and a commitment to service delivery for all Lagosians.
“This budget is not just about figures; it embodies our commitment to building a Lagos that works for everyone,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
He added that every allocation within the budget aligns with the vision of a Greater Lagos that thrives both now and in the future.
The governor extended his gratitude to the Lagos State House of Assembly for their support in making this budget a reality and thanked the people of Lagos for their continued trust. He expressed confidence that together, they would implement the budget to achieve a lasting impact across the state.
