Some residents in Ogun and Oyo States have have criticised the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) for its inconsistent power supply during the Sallah celebrations.
IBEDC had earlier assured its customers of uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the Eid-El-Kabir festivities.
In a statement on Sunday, the Acting Managing Director, Francis Agoha, pledged to keep the company’s technical team ready to swiftly address any issues.
However, several residents took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with IBEDC’s services.
Yekeen Abiodun, commenting on Facebook, described IBEDC’s performance as unreliable, saying, “IBEDC is a disgrace. They’ve been providing intermittent power supply since morning. They didn’t fulfill their promise of 24/7 or stable electricity.”
Adedokun Peter lamented, “Oke Bola, close to their head office, seems excluded from Nigeria. IBEDC humiliates us there, whereas neighboring areas like Oke-ado enjoy constant power supply.”
Also, Jimoh Oluwasegun speculated, “It seems deliberate to disrupt power supply in Ibadan from the 15th of June till now. Does IBEDC have something against Muslims or a hidden agenda for Eid?”
In the same vein, Ayoola Olamide criticised IBEDC, stating, “They’ve had stable power supply near their Oyo office since yesterday, while we nearby have experienced total darkness.”
Folasayo Owolabi humorously commented, “Still no light? Not even a flicker. Nigeria, we salute you.”
Larry Ramsey complained, “We’ve been without light since last night in Simawa, Ogun State.”
Ben Adekunle expressed disappointment, “It seems my area (Erunwon) in Ijebu Ode was not included in the promised areas.”
Azeez Ridware pointed out, “Some areas have intermittent power supply. In Monatan, we’ve had no light at all. It’s unclear if IBEDC considers our area part of Ibadan.”
Deji Biodun said, “We haven’t had electricity for the past four days in my area. They promised light during Sallah. May God help them.”
