The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed four breathalysers to motor parks and highways to check drunk driving during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said, “As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, we want to ensure that our roads are safe and free from crashes caused by drunk driving.
“We have deployed breathalysers to motor parks and highways to check and stop drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol and other substances,” Mohammed said.
He noted that driving under the influence of alcohol and other substances is a deadly road use behaviour that has led to unprecedented crashes and fatalities on the highways.
Mohammed urged motorists to play their part in ensuring a crash-free celebration, saying, “When drivers drive recklessly, it is your right as commuters to speak up and report such drivers to FRSC operatives or any other security outposts on the highways.”
He reassured motorists of the corps’ renewed vigour towards entrenching sanity on the roads and wished all Nigerians a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“We are committed to ensuring that our roads are safe during this celebration and beyond,” Mohammed said.
