The media aide to former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Ebere Nzeworji, has firmly refuted circulating rumors regarding his principal’s alleged demise.
Nzeworji assured Nigerians on Thursday morning that “the immediate past Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District is hale and hearty,” countering what he called a “fake viral message” that began circulating on social media on Wednesday evening, November 6.
In a statement released in Abuja, Nzeworji emphasized that “the rumor suggesting Senator Okorocha had passed away in a London hospital is completely false.”
He noted that Okorocha was seen at his Unity House office in Garki, Abuja, around the time the rumor started to spread. Nzeworji added that the former governor recently returned from Owerri, Imo State.
Detailing Okorocha’s recent activities, Nzeworji explained that the senator had attended the funeral of the respected elder statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, on November 1.
He had also hosted the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and other representatives at his Spibat residence in Owerri.
“One can now begin to wonder about the motives of those behind this fake news,” Nzeworji remarked.
“Senator Okorocha is a patriotic Nigerian who has served both the state and the nation with dedication, building friendships across the country and the world. He has never wished anyone harm and is known for his cheerful, caring nature.”
Nzeworji appealed to Nigerians, saying, “We, therefore, call on all well-meaning Nigerians and the international community to disregard this fake news and be assured that His Excellency, Senator Rochas Okorocha, is alive and well.”
