The Rivers State Government has announced automatic employment for 76 graduates of PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt. This landmark decision was revealed during the university’s 4th convocation ceremony held on Friday.
Dr. Peter Odili, the Pro-Chancellor and founder of PAMO University, made the announcement, highlighting the state’s commitment to supporting graduates and empowering the workforce. He also shared the news of a 100% salary increase for the university staff, in line with the new minimum wage policy.
Odili, a former governor of Rivers State, emphasized the university’s zero-tolerance policy for cultism, harassment, and drug abuse, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to producing graduates of strong character and academic excellence.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who attended the event, inaugurated two major projects at the university: the 500-capacity Sir Siminalayi Fubara Lecture Theatre and a state-of-the-art medical library. He also expressed his administration’s dedication to advancing peace, security, and development in Rivers State, despite political challenges.
Fubara was also honored with an honorary Doctor of Science degree for his contributions to education and society, and for supporting PAMO University’s scholarship scheme, which has now been expanded to 150 students.
The university’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christie Mato, commended the 76 graduates for their academic achievements, with three earning First Class Honours and 23 receiving Second Class Upper Division.
