Rerun: Protest as Man killed while preventing ballot snatching in Kaduna

Some youths on Sunday, barricaded the Kaduna/Zaria road im protest for the killing of a young man, Mansir Shafiu.

Shafiu was stabbed to death while attempting to prevent a ballot box from being snatched in Rigachikun, Igabi Local Government Area of the state, at the just concluded rerun elections.

According to an eyewitness, Shafiu was trying to prevent thugs from snatching the ballot box, when one of them suddenly brought out a knife and stabbed him.

A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and supporter of the House of Representatives representing Igabi federal constituency, Hussaini Jallo, confirmed the incident, saying the man was buried in accordance with Islamic rites on Sunday morning.

When contacted on the incident, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, who confirmed the incident to Punch, stated that the victim was shot by suspected political thugs who snatched election materials at the Tsohon Garin Rigachikun polling unit.

According to him, the man was shot in the leg but he died after being rushed to the hospital.
