DELTA: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged elected and appointed public office holders to prioritize the interests of the people above personal ambitions in their service to the state.
Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with religious bodies, calling on them to continue praying for peace and progress in Delta and Nigeria at large.
Oborevwori made the call on Wednesday while receiving the newly elected executive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State Chapter, led by Bishop Abos Willie, at Government House, Asaba.
The governor attributed his administration’s achievements over the past 19 months to divine guidance, stressing that the fear of God is essential for effective leadership.
Speaking at the event, Oborevwori emphasized that leadership should be about service to the people rather than personal gain.
“We are elected or appointed to serve the people, not for personal interests. When you put the people’s interest first, you will succeed. But if you prioritize yourself, you will fail,” he stated.
He reassured that his administration would continue making impactful decisions under the MORE Agenda to improve the lives of Deltans.
“By divine wisdom, we have judiciously allocated resources to meet competing needs. With the support of the Christian community, we will continue to trust God for guidance in executing our programmes.”
Earlier, PFN Chairman, Bishop Abos Willie, said the visit was to introduce the new executive and commend the governor for his developmental strides. He also congratulated Oborevwori on being named Governor of the Year by ThisDay Newspaper and Arise Television.
Bishop Willie urged the governor to maintain his administration’s zero-tolerance policy for substandard projects, noting that this would help curb the problem of abandoned projects in the state.
“We recognize your efforts and encourage you to continue your stance against shoddy projects. The church will continue to pray for you and the state,” he said.
