Power supply has been disrupted in several states under the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) franchise, including Gombe, Bauchi, Benue, and Plateau, due to a fault on the 330kV double-circuit transmission lines from Ugwuji to Makurdi to Jos.
The blackout, which occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024, at around 12:21 PM, has led to the loss of power across all 33KV feeders within the affected areas. This disruption has left residents and businesses without electricity.
Dr. Friday Elijah, the Head of Corporate Communications for JEDC, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday. He explained that the fault occurred when the transmission lines tripped, causing the widespread power outage.
“Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) engineers are already on-site and working diligently to rectify the fault,” Dr. Elijah said, assuring the public that efforts were underway to restore power.
He also apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outage and thanked customers for their patience during this period. “We are committed to restoring normal power supply as soon as the fault is resolved, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to work on improving our services,” he added.
The power disruption is expected to affect daily activities in the affected regions until the issue is fully addressed.
