Police Officers Arrested Over Alleged Shooting Of Poly Student as Oyo CP Orders Investigation

The Oyo State Police Command says the Police Operatives allegedly involved in the shooting of one Samuel Akinsuyi, a student of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, on Eruwa-Ibadan Road last Friday have been apprehended.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to National Telescope by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

According to the statement, the Oyo State Police Commissioner, Ngozi Onadeko, has ordered full-scale investigations into the situation which resulted in the shooting.

CP Onadeko however appeal for calm, while assuring the public that investigating officers would out their work with diligence to know the cause of the incident.

She also promised that adequate sanctions would be carried out in accordance with relevant laws and statutes.

The statement reads, “The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Ngozi Onadeko, fdc has ordered full scale investigations into the events that led to the unfortunate shooting incident of Samuel Akinsuyi ‘m’ along Eruwa-Ibadan Road on Friday 11/03/2022.

“The Operatives involved have all been identified, apprehended and are currently undergoing debrief accompanied immediately with the commencement of their orderly room trials.

“In furtherance to the above, the Commissioner of Police therefore appeals for calm and affirms the assurances of a thorough and diligent investigation into demystifying the actions that led to incident with adequate sanctions meted out in accordance to relevant laws and statutes.

“Further updates would be provided in due course, please.” He said.
