Police Neutralise Suspected Bandit, Recover AK-47 Rifle in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command have neutralised some suspected bandit in Ketare Ward, Kankara Local Government Area (LGA).

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, revealed in a statement on Tuesday that an AK-47 rifle was also recovered during the operation.

The incident took place on Tuesday in Bulunkuza village, located in Tudun Wada Ward, Kankara LGA.

“Information was received at the Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters that bandits, in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons, attacked Gidan Dan Ali village in Kankara LGA.

“Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Kankara Divisional Headquarters, CSP Iliyasu Ibrahim, mobilized a team of police operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and vigilance group members to the scene.

“The team successfully tracked the assailants down to Bulunkuza village, where they gallantly engaged them in a fierce gun duel, forcing the criminals to abandon their plan and flee the scene.

“During the course of scanning the scene, the body of one neutralised suspected bandit and one AK-47 rifle were recovered,” Sadiq-Aliyu said.

He stated that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, praised the operatives for their exceptional gallantry and professionalism.

Additionally, he mentioned that the commissioner urged the public to continue providing the command with timely information on suspected criminal activities to enable prompt and decisive action.
