Police Issue Stern Warning Ahead of Planned Protest

The Kwara State Police Command has issued a warning to residents about potential dangers associated with the upcoming protest in the state.

In addition to the warning, the command provided essential advice for those planning to participate.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya stated that while peaceful protests are a constitutional right, any attempt by troublemakers to hijack the event for malicious purposes will not be tolerated.

“To ensure public safety and order, the police have deployed adequate personnel and resources to monitor the protest.

“Surveillance units are on standby to identify and apprehend troublemakers swiftly.

“Anyone caught engaging in violence, looting, arson, or other criminal activities will face severe legal consequences,” the statement read.

The Kwara State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the constitutional rights of citizens while maintaining peace and security.

They also called on community leaders and local vigilantes to cooperate with law enforcement agents to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Residents are also urged to conduct themselves with dignity and responsibility to ensure a peaceful and constructive society.
