The Ondo State Police Command has successfully rescued victims abducted on Friday night in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when the victims, traveling from the South-East, were attacked by gunmen.
During the assault, the assailants killed both the female passenger in the front seat and the driver while five others were abducted, though two managed to escape with injuries.
In a statement released on Monday, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omilana, spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, disclosed that the victims were left stranded in the forest by their captors.
The tactical squad, led by the Area Commander of Owo, Olufemi Awoyele, had been combing the forest, forcing the abductors to abandon the victims at the Oyinbo/Sanusi camp.
The rescued victims are currently receiving treatment at the police medical facility in Owo and will be reunited with their families after being debriefed.
