The Delta State Police Command announced today that it successfully foiled a suspected kidnapping plot in Oghara, within the Ethiopia West Local Government Area of the state. During the operation, the police also recovered an AK-47 rifle and other arms.

This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday afternoon by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edge.

The statement detailed that the operation, which occurred on August 13, 2024, was led by officers from the Oghara Division.

They acted on credible intelligence received during the graduation ceremony at Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara.

CSP Olasunkanmi Musiliu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oghara, spearheaded the operation.

The police team, following the intelligence, moved swiftly to a bush along the Otefe/Ovade Legit Road, where the suspected kidnappers had allegedly planned to abduct guests attending the graduation event.

However, upon sighting the police, the suspects abandoned their weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, and fled the scene.
