Police Crack Down on Crime: Multiple Arrests, Significant Recoveries Made

The Kwara State Police Command has intensified its campaign against crime, resulting in a series of major arrests and recoveries across the state.

At a press briefing held at the Police headquarters in Ilorin, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, provided updates on recent operations.

He announced that three individuals, Ridwan Alabi, Taiye Olarewaju, and Adebayo Habibullahi, have been apprehended in connection with the brutal murder of two young men at the Insomnia Night Club in Tanke.

These suspects have reportedly confessed to being members of the Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity.

In another significant operation, the police successfully disrupted an initiation ceremony by the ‘Aiye’ cult group in Agbo-Oba, leading to the arrest of five individuals.

During this operation, the police also recovered a Beretta pistol and various criminal charms.

The Kwara State Police Command also made significant strides in dismantling a notorious kidnapping syndicate. Four suspects were arrested, and further investigations led to the identification of key figures within the syndicate.

Also, a suspect involved in transformer theft in the Oja-Iya area was apprehended, along with other individuals connected to cases of kidnapping and homicide in Manasara village.

Moreover, the police foiled an armed robbery attempt, recovering a stolen motorcycle and apprehending the suspects responsible for the crime.

CP Victor Olaiya has urged the residents of Kwara State to remain vigilant and to continue reporting all suspicious activities to the authorities.

He emphasised the police command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining peace within the state.

Other significant arrests made by the police include: Babuga Usman, Yunusa Yakubu, Sani Usman, and Abdullahi Bello, for conspiracy and kidnapping.

Idris Hussain was arrested for criminal trespass, mischief, and theft.

Other five individuals, Umar Shehu, Musa Fulani, Ahmadu Majo, Bello Usman, and Mamud Afeez, were arrested for conspiracy, aiding and abetting, illegal possession of firearms, and kidnapping.

Four suspects, Mohammed Manman, Abubakar Mohammed, Aliyu Abubakar, and Abubakar Abdulkareem were arrested for conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and culpable homicide.

Some other two individual, Wasiu Ibrahim and Idowu Jamiu were nabbed for armed robbery.

The Kwara State Police Command has remains resolute in its efforts to combat crime, and its recent successes demonstrate its effectiveness in maintaining law and order in the state.
