The Nigerian Police Force, Rivers State Command has confirmed the killing of Prof. Emmanuel Amadi by some unidentified armed robbers at his residence in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Speaking in a telephone chat with Campus Focus, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Rivers Command, Nnamdi Omoni, disclosed that the robbers attacked the lecturers at his home and having discovered he recognised one of them, he was subsequently hit on the head.
“He was killed by armed robbers who went to his house to attack him and in the process one of them who knew that the professor has recognised him, hit him on the head, the man slumped and he was taking to the hospital by his younger brother.
While receiving medical attention, he suddenly gave up the ghost. His remains has been deposited at the mortuary.”
Omoni however said Investigation has commenced to bring the culprits to book.
Before his demise, Prof. Amadi was a lecturer at the Department of Microbiology, Rivers State University, RSU, Port Harcourt.
