The Oyo State Police command has confirmed the Alhaja Fatimah Awolesu, daughter of former Iyalode of Ibadan land, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun.
According to reports, Fatimah, the only surviving daughter of the former Iyalode was shot on the head by some unidentified gunmen in the early hours of wednesday, March 9, 2022 in her residence located at Bashorun area of Ibadan.
Confiming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said that the investigation has commenced while the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue.
“The unfortunate demise of Alhaja Fatima Awolesu ‘f’ was reported by a family associate to the Police on Wednesday 09/03/2022.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was attacked at her Bashorun residence by unknown assailants who also inflicted bodily wounds on her.
“Crime Scene Investigators have been immediately deployed to Crime Scene for detailed forensic processes and thorough investigations.
“Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the State Morgue.
“Updates regarding the incident and investigations would be made available in due course, please.”
