Police Commission Dismisses Two ASPs, Promotes 11 CPs, 16 DCPs

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed two Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) for gross misconduct, including dishonesty, corruption, sabotage, and actions unbecoming of public officers.

Alongside the dismissals, the Commission approved the demotion of six officers for related offences.

These include two Superintendents of Police reduced to Deputy Superintendents, one Deputy Superintendent reduced to Assistant Superintendent, and three Assistant Superintendents demoted to Inspectors.

In a statement issued on Monday, the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, explained that the decisions were made during the Commission’s second plenary meeting held at its headquarters in Abuja.

He further disclosed that ten senior officers received severe reprimands for offences such as unauthorised disclosure of official secrets, dishonesty, sabotage, and unprofessional conduct.

Nine other officers were reprimanded for various misconducts, while a Deputy Commissioner of Police was exonerated after being found not guilty of allegations brought against them.

The PSC also approved a wave of promotions for several senior officers. Eleven Commissioners of Police were elevated to Assistant Inspectors General of Police, while sixteen Deputy Commissioners were promoted to Commissioners.

Twenty-one Assistant Commissioners advanced to Deputy Commissioners, and fifty-seven Chief Superintendents were promoted to Assistant Commissioners.

In addition, 1,348 Superintendents were elevated to Chief Superintendents, and 876 Deputy Superintendents were promoted to Superintendents.

Among the promoted officers were Obi-Ejoh Nnamdi Patrick, formerly the Commander of the Anti-Narcotics section in the FCT Command, now serving at the Kaduna Command, and Milicent Amadi, Officer in Charge of Surveillance at the State CID, Ebonyi State Command.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Enugu State Command, Daniel Ndukwe, was also included in the list of promoted officers.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to upholding discipline, professionalism, and a merit-based system in the Nigeria Police Force.
