Police Arrest Man Six Years After Allegedly Killing Brother Over Debt

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have apprehended Magaji Yallo for allegedly murdering his brother, Gausu Umar Sadau, to avoid repaying a N270,000 debt in Minjibir Local Government Area.

According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Yallo and his accomplices lured Sadau to a location under the pretense of repaying the debt.

Once there, they attacked Sadau with dangerous weapons, inflicting fatal injuries.

The incident, which occurred on August 10, 2018, left Sadau with severe wounds, including a cut to his leg vein.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Following sustained intelligence-led operations, the principal suspect, Magaji Yallo, was finally arrested on July 15, 2024, nearly six years after the crime.

Two other suspects, Rabiu Sarki Lota and Nasiru Adamu Namade, had previously been arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, reiterated the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property, assuring that all perpetrators of crime will be brought to justice.

Yallo has been charged and will face prosecution at Magistrate Court Number 34 in No mans
land, Kano.

CP Salman Dogo Garba reiterated that the command will continue to employ intelligence-led operations to apprehend suspects and ensure they face the full extent of the law.

The arrest of Magaji Yallo marks a significant breakthrough in a case that has remained unsolved for nearly six years.

In addition to the arrest of Yallo, the police command continues to investigate other unsolved cases and encourages the public to provide any information that may assist in bringing more criminals to justice.

The collaboration between the police and the community remains vital in maintaining law and order in Kano State.
