The Nigerian Police Force has arrested 13 suspects in connection with the killings of two Ekiti monarchs.

The Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin, were killed by kidnappers in Ekiti on Monday, while the Alara of Ara Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, narrowly escaped.

The incident happened on the Ipao and Oke Ako expressway in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, when the monarchs were returning from a security meeting in Lokoja

It will be recalled that on Tuesday the Apostolic Faith Group of School bus was attacked and five pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver were kidnapped on this same route.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Friday said. “The assigned AIG will coordinate a comprehensive security response to end the unfortunate incidents in Ekiti and parts of Ondo.

“Thirteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the incidents, and the IGP assures the public of the NPF’s commitment to ensuring justice and preventing a recurrence.

“The public is urged to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative as efforts are made to restore peace and security in the affected areas”.

Meetings to address this insurgency have been held by the traditional rulers and key strategic figures to ensure that these insurgencies are curtailed.
