Police Apprehend Robbery Suspects, Recover Items In Abuja

Officers from the Zone 7 Police Command Headquarters, overseeing the Federal Capital Territory, have arrested several suspects linked to car theft, armed robbery, and murder.
 
This operation, conducted with the Niger State Police Command following an intelligence report, led to the recovery of stolen vehicles, firearms, laptops, and other items.
 
The arrests were announced by the zone’s Police Public Relations Officer, M.B. Abdulkadir, at the Command Headquarters in Abuja, as shared in a tweet from the Nigeria Police Force’s X account on Wednesday.
 
Four suspects, Solomon Nuhu (22), Faruk Umar (17), Bolaji Yusuf (34), and Lawal Yusuf (38), were apprehended for crimes including car theft, robbery, possession of illegal firearms, murder, and criminal conspiracy.
 
Abdulkadir revealed, “Police detectives from the Special Investigation Squad of the Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, acting on actionable intelligence, successfully arrested Haruna Akubo, aka Young Alhaji.
 
Five suspected stolen vehicles were recovered from L.Y. Nadabo Motors, opposite One Man Village Shopping Centre in Karu LGA of Nasarawa State.
 
“Additionally, two other suspects, Bolaji Yusuf (34) and Abubakar Umar, were arrested at Heart Plaza, Maraba. Bolaji was found with two vehicle master keys, three stolen phones, and a bunch of car keys.
 
“Further investigation uncovered 32 phones of various brands and a 9mm Beretta pistol with live ammunition in Faruk Umar’s possession. The Beretta Pistol was recovered from Solomon Nuhu, who claimed to have purchased it from Faruk Umar for N130,000.”
 
The police also discovered stolen vehicles in Ankpa Local Government Area, Kogi State, including a Lexus IS 250, whose owner was reportedly killed during the carjacking.
 
The suspect, Ibrahim Umar, aka Godiya, remains at large. In total, 10 vehicles with altered chassis numbers were recovered from the syndicate, along with laptops and mobile phones.
 
Assistant Inspector-General of Police Ogundele Ayodeji has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case. The suspects will face prosecution in court.
 
He urged FCT residents to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities to the police, and assure them that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to protecting lives and property.
