Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmad El-Iman, has urged meat sellers in Kwara State to source their products only from government-approved abattoirs, emphasizing public health safety.

Dr. Amina has given this statement and directive while addressing journalists in Ilorin.

Dr. El-Iman stressed that the Ministry of Health in Kwara State has warned butchers at various abattoirs against slaughtering animals with health issues.

The Commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of its citizens.

“We strongly recommend that all consumers purchase meat from recognized and government-approved abattoirs,” she emphasized, noting the agreement reached with sellers on this matter.

Furthermore, the Kwara State Government has disposed of all meat confiscated from animals suspected of being poisonous, slaughtered near the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) in Ilorin.

These actions are part of the government’s efforts to prevent the consumption of potentially harmful meat in the state.
