An artiste who specialises in beaded gourd rattle instrument popularly called sekere, Oladapo Joseph aka Joe Sekere, has said that every musical instrument is relevant to music making process, saying people should desist from belittling instruments.
He stated this during a interview with NATIONAL TELESCOPE Lifestyle on Thursday.
According to him, sekere is one of the instruments many believe is irrelevant but has distinct sounds that adds quality to music production.
He said, “I discovered the sekere (rattle gourd) instrument while I was growing up at my church and officially at the age of 11.
After some years of Experience, I discovered I need to increase my playing skills, I had to rehearse well and at most it’s all the grace of God”.
He enjoined aspiring musicians to play traditional African instruments and not belittle any instrument no matter how small it may seem.
He added, “no instrument is valueless and it will always make a difference.”
