The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all 18 chairperson seats in the LGA election held in Edo state on Saturday.
The election was conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission (ESIEC) in Edo north, Edo central and Edo south senatorial districts.
Albert Eguaoje, EDSIEC’s spokesperson, said the commission would present certificates of return to the victorious candidates on Sunday.
Ahead of the poll, four of the seven political parties initially registered to participate in the elections collapsed their structures for the PDP.
The parties include Action Alliance (AA); Allied Peoples Movement (APM); Accord (A) and African Democratic Congress (ADC)
Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo, said he was satisfied with the conduct of LGA elections in the state.
He added that he was surprised at the level of voter turnout despite the rain.
However, opposition parties in the state, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) have kicked against the exercise.
The LP has called for the cancellation of the poll, alleging ations of irregularities.
