Pastor Remanded in Ondo for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Foster Daughter

A 55-year-old pastor, Adetunji Obatayo, has been remanded in the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly sexually assaulting his 14-year-old foster daughter.

The victim, who has been living with the pastor since 2020, alleged that he began abusing her at age 10, resulting in multiple pregnancies and forced abortions.

The pastor was charged with defilement and unlawfully procuring abortions, leading to the death of unborn children.

The court proceedings revealed the traumatic experiences endured by the victim, including being forced to take drugs to terminate her pregnancies.

The magistrate ordered the pastor’s remand and directed the case file to be sent to the Department of Public Prosecutions for advice.

The victim will receive rehabilitation support to cope with the trauma.

The case has however sparked outrage and raised concerns about child safety in foster care and accountability among religious leaders.
