The Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Michael Adaralewa, has reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment toward the provision of adequate security during the festive season in the state.
Speaking at the end of the year party held at the command’s headquarters, Ibadan, on Tuesday, the Commandant disclosed that 2500 personnel have been deployed for the yelutide season in the state.
According to him, to ensure effective security, personnel of the Counter Terrorism Unit. Disaster Management, Intelligence Unit, and Private Gas Companies Unit were also deployed.
He said, “to foster security of lives and properties during this yuletide season, our command has deployed about two thousand five hundred personnel to overseer the nooks and crannies of the state.”
Adaralewa also announced that the command is not only focusing on Ibadan alone, but other inter lands of the state.
“Our Armed Squard has been going round mounting surveillance and patrol 24 hours daily on flash points in the state to make sure every intending criminals are arrested and prosecuted.
“We are prepared to provide adequate security for the people during and after this festive season. Also, we are into joint deployment and collaboration with other security agencies like the military, Police, DSS, Amotekun and even the local hunters. We took the collaboration in order to achieve the greatest synergy and that has resulted in the crime rate to be low in Oyo State. We have assured the good people of Oyo, that there will be enough security before, doing after the yuletide season. So, they don’t have any cause to fear. They can go about their normal business without any form of molestation.”
The Commandant also said the security surveillance is not limited to roads linking Oyo State boundaries from Lagos and Ogun States alone, but every other roads linking the state, he added.
According to Dr Adarerewa, Oyo NSCDC command has in the past years improved excellently well in terms of curbing crimes in the society with the help of the stakeholders, partners and agencies that have supported the command.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to the various stakeholders, partners, and agencies that have supported our endeavours. The collaborative efforts and synergy we have fostered have enabled us to enhance our capabilities and achieve remarkable results. Together, we have made significant strides in combating crime, tackling emerging security threats, and promoting safety within our communities.”
Meanwhile, the Commandant has urged the Corps to embrace unity, camaraderie, and solidarity to foster stronger bonds, forge new friendships, which will reinforce the spirit of brotherhood that defines the organization, he added.
In attendance were sister security agencies which includes, the Police, Navy Officers amongst others.
