Oyo NSCDC parade Islamic Cleric, Native Doctor, Other over alleged N2.5 Million Fraud

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command has paraded 3 Suspects for an alleged fraud of N2.5 Million.

Parading the suspects at the Oyo State Command Headquarters, Ibadan on Monday, February 28, 2022, the State Commandant, CC Adaralewa Micheal Akintayo stated that the suspect, an Islamic Cleric, Muyideen Akorede, aged 28 years, conspired with another Islamic Cleric Alfa Otala who is still at large, a native doctor, Baba Adekunle, and Okada Rider Monsuru Rasheed obtained from one Mr. Oluwatoni Folarin the sum of 2.5 Million naira under false pretence.

According to him, “on the 13th of February, 2022, at paseken area in Abeokuta, Ogun State, one Islamic Cleric identified as Muyideen Akorede Laken 28 years, a resident of Odinjo area of Ibadan stopped one Mr. Oluwatoni Folarin and requested for an assistance of about one thousand naira in which the Man obliged, later the two exchanged their mobile phones, later the suspect Muyideen Akorede invited the complainant Mr. Oluwatoni to Ibadan to meet other Islamic cleric for special prayer and spiritual cleansing. Along the line, the prime suspect, Muyideen Akorede, a traditionalist popularly known as babalawo and one Okada rider with others at large including one man the supposed gang leader called Alfa Otala conspired and collected the sum of two million, five hundred thousand naira from the complainant through the access bank account belonging to Akorede and GTB belonging to one Mr. Abukadri Ibrahim under false pretence.

“The following items were recovered from these suspects, cowery shares, metal bell, necklace and a TVS motorcycle with registration number RGB702QT.” He said.

While calling on the public to be more security conscious, the State Commandant urged anyone with information on criminal activities in the society to report. He stressed that, such reports will go a long way to eradicate crimes from the society.

“We are parading this people to serve as a deterrent to all these evil workers.

“Investigation is still on and immediately it is concluded, they will be charge court appropriately.

“We are also using this opportunity to sensitize our people to be wary of all these fraudster, they are all out there. We also call on Nigeria populace to give us information anytime they come across this fraudsters. We need to flush them out of our society and particular in Oyo State.” He added.

Speaking in an interview with NATIONAL TELESCOPE Muyideen Akorede who said he has never defrauded anyone before, noted that he is a victim of circumstance who followed a friend’s advise.

According to him, the complainant Mr. Oluwatoni Folarin was his Customer seeking spiritual help for his business.

“I am an Alfa, I do work for people and have been doing this job for a long time. I know Mr. Oluwatoni, I took him to someone known as Alfa Otala, he now said he will talk to him on the phone and he called him to come to Ibadan and he came that was why they collected money from his hand.

“He said he wants how the yahoo work that he doing will be more successful, that was when Alfa Otala said he will help him to do a work, then he collected money from his hand. He said he is doing bitcoin business. Infact at the first time I did a soap for him and he told me it worked.” He said.
