The Oyo State Chapter of the Action Alliance (AA) has debunk filing a petition against the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, at the tribunal.
The party also said its governorship candidate at the just concluded election, Mr. Olaniyi Ajekiigbe who is also not responsible for any suit at the Tribunal.
This was disclosed in a statement e-signed by the State Chairman, Mr Kolajo Adeyemi and the State Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Olumide Ogunlade.
AA described the petition as an act to disrupt the cordial relationship the party enjoys with the governor.
It reads, “the Oyo State Action Alliance AA use this medium to inform the entire citizens of Oyo State, that the party had only one gubernatorial candidate for Oyo State in the last gubernatorial election. The candidate recognized by INEC is Mr Olaniyi Ajekiigbe. This is verifiable at INEC office and websites.
“Action Alliance AA was the first party to form coalition with His Excellency Engr Abiodun Oluwaseyi Makinde and PDP on 9th of March 2023 in a meeting held at the Presidential Lodge of Oyo State Government House in the presence of notable leaders of PDP like Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Chief Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, His Excellency, the Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal , DG Omituntun 2.0. Chief Bayo Lawal, Dr Dayo Ogungbenro Oyo State PDP Chairman, Hon Akeem Ige and His Excellency Engr Abiodun Oluwaseyi Makinde.
“We in Oyo State never took the governor to tribunal and we don’t have any candidate bearing Ajala Babatunde in our party.
“Action Alliance is solidly behind His Excellency”.
The party however enjoined law enforcement agencies in the state to arrest and prosecute the impostor to serve as a deterrence to others.
