Otti Approves Tuition Payments for Abia Students, Dismisses CPS Kazie Uko

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State announced the dismissal of Chief Press Secretary Kazie Uko on Wednesday.

In addition, he approved the payment of school fees for Abia students enrolled in Nigerian law schools and for those studying abroad in India who had been neglected by the previous administration.

Prince Okey Kanu, the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, briefed reporters after the governor presided over the State Executive Council Meeting.

He noted that the gesture aims to support students who were left behind by the former administration, ensuring they can continue their education.

“Governor Alex Otti, who places high importance on education, has graciously approved the payment of school fees for Abia students in India and for 271 Abia students in Nigerian law schools,” Kanu announced.

Also, the state governor has secured the accreditation of 19 programmes for Abia State University Uturu (ABSU).

He has directed the State Commissioner for Lands to process a Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) within 48 hours for international footballer Frank Onyeka, who plans to establish a football academy in the state.

Onyeka, from Isuikwuato LGA, visited the governor with his wife and Daati Baba Ahmed, who pledged support for the academy.

The governor expressed his administration’s willingness to support the academy, which will be situated between Umuahia and Aba.

Prince Kanu also mentioned that Governor Otti has replaced Kazie Uko with Njoku Ukoha Njoku as the new Chief Press Secretary.

Addressing questions about a potential cholera outbreak, the commissioner assured that there is no outbreak in the state.

“Even the suspected cases, whose samples were sent to NCDC in Abuja, tested negative,” Kanu confirmed.
