Oricha Basketball Tourney Offers Scholarship to 20 FCT Students

The Oricha Basketball Challenge, scheduled to hold on February 23, 2025, at the GSS Garki Basketball Arena Abuja , has announced that it will be offering scholarships to 20 students from four public senior secondary schools in the FCT.

The annual event, instituted by Alhaji Abubakar Ajayi, aims to promote basketball and education among young students.

According to Alhaji Abubakar Ajayi, “the lucky schools will benefit from our donation of basketballs, receive training equipment and mentorship for a year.”

The four adopted schools will compete for the trophy in a mini-championship, preceding the veterans’ game.

This initiative is expected to boost the morale of the students and encourage them to develop their basketball skills.

The foundation will present scholarship awards to 20 players, covering this term’s school fees, to encourage players to study while playing basketball.

This gesture is aimed at supporting the educational pursuits of the students while fostering their passion for basketball. The scholarship awards are a testament to the foundation’s commitment to the development of young talents in the FCT.

The Oricha Basketball Challenge has been a platform for promoting basketball and community development in the FCT.

The event has attracted dignitaries and basketball enthusiasts from across the country.

This year’s event promises to be exciting, with the participation of veterans and young players from the adopted schools.

The event will be graced by dignitaries, including Dr. Mohammed Sani Ladan, Director/Secretary FCT Secondary Education Board, and Hon. Kabiru Ajana, Head of Ebira land.

Over 30 veterans have indicated their readiness to participate in the events, making it a memorable occasion for basketball enthusiasts in the FCT.
