One Killed as Biafra fighters clash with Army in Anambra

A clash between the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), with the Nigerian Army has left one person dead.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, who made the disclosure in a statement on Tuesday, stated that the proscribed Biafra fighters attempted the attack on the troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade at the Forward Operating Base at Ukwuorji, along the Owerri-Onitsha expressway on August 20, 2023 were countered.

He said the criminals met their Waterloo when they came under the superior firepower of the vigilant troops and that one of the fighters was killed while two others were arrested and others fled.

According to the statement, the troops recovered a vehicle, mobile phone, machete, nine empty cases of expended 7.62 mm special ammunition, and an empty case of expended 12.7mm ammunition.
