Ohaneze Congratulates Air Peace on Lagos-London Flight

By Abraham Amah

Ndigbo Worldwide has congratulated an exceptional Igbo entrepreneur, philanthropist, lawyer, visionary thinker, and chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, for initiating direct flight operations from Lagos to London. The commendation of Onyema took place on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, during the plenary session of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, presided over by President General Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo.

During the meeting, Iwuanyanwu highlighted Onyema’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria, including the evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa during the Xenophobic attacks in September 2019, the rescue of 277 stranded Nigerians, particularly students, from Sudan due to the outbreak of war in Central Sudan, and the Air Peace Investiture Award to Nigerian football legends from 1980, among other notable deeds.

Ohanaeze expressed concerns about the orchestrated internal and external conspiracies, malicious aero-politics, imperialistic intrigues, airport discriminations, and heightened price wars aimed at undermining Air Peace. Despite these challenges, Ohanaeze emphasized the unwavering Igbo spirit characterized by tenacity, resourcefulness, ingenuity, audacity, resilience, and the ability to turn adversities into opportunities.

According to Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the Igbo leader expressed immense delight that Air Peace now offers connectivity from Abuja, Asaba, Benin, Enugu, Owerri, Warri, and Port Harcourt to London. Ahaejiagamba also noted that within two weeks of Air Peace launching the Lagos-London route, foreign carriers slashed fares on the route by over 50 percent. Onyema was lauded for providing relief and support to Nigerians.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo congratulates Chief Allen Onyema and encourages him to stay resilient. May the Lord continually renew your strength; may you rise like eagles, and may the Air Peace fleet and routes continue to expand.

“We urge Air Peace to maintain its commitment to upholding the airline’s reputation, delivering quality service to passengers, and promoting Nigeria’s image consistently,” the statement concluded.
