Ogun safety corps nab 12 illegal miners

Operatives of the Ogun State community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps have arrested twelve illegal miners at Abeku Adekanmbi Village in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.

The office of the state Commander of the corps, Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this on Monday in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the corps, Moruf Yusuf.

Ganzalo said the illegal miners were arrested last month while allegedly stealing mineral resources like coal and gold from under the ground.

The Commander of the corps said he has ordered that a preliminary investigation report be forwarded to the State Headquarters of the corps.

This, he said, was “to further ensure that other accomplices who escaped through motorcycles are brought to book.”

“Meanwhile, the arrested suspects had been transfered to the Nigeria Police, Ijebu-Igbo Divisional Headquarters for onward transfer to the Ogun State Police Headquarter in Eleweran  for further investigation and likely prosecution.”
