The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with the burglary of a Shoppy Supermarket in the Oke-Afa area of Magboro.
The incident, which saw goods worth an estimated ₦14 million carted away, has sparked concern amongst business owners in the state.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the Warewa Divisional Police Officer (DPO) acted swiftly after receiving a report from the supermarket owner, Adelanke Olalekan. Olalekan was alerted to the burglary by a So-Safe Corps personnel in the early hours of the morning.
“Upon receiving the report, the DPO mobilized his detectives to the scene,” stated CSP Odutola.
“CCTV footage was obtained, revealing that the night guard, Mohammed Adams, who was assigned to secure the premises, had opened the gate for his accomplices, allowing them to gain access and successfully commit the crime.”
Adams has since confessed to masterminding the burglary, and further investigations led to the arrest of Mastaudu Mohammed, who is believed to be an accomplice.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has commended the Warewa division for their swift action and emphasized the importance of vigilance and security consciousness among Ogun State residents.
He urged residents to be proactive in safeguarding their businesses and personal environments, stating that many criminal incidents can be prevented through basic security precautions.
“The CP reiterates the importance of vigilance and security consciousness among the residents of Ogun State,” the statement read.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face charges related to conspiracy, stealing, and burglary.
