The Ogun State Police Command has launched a discreet investigation following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media.
In the footage, an elderly man, Mr. Areola Abraham, is seen prostrating while being verbally abused and assaulted by Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the Olorile of Orile Ifo.
In response to the gravity of the situation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed that a thorough investigation be conducted.
He assured that the investigation will adhere to the rule of law and respect fundamental human rights principles.
Both parties involved have reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Eleweran, where their statements were recorded.
The Ogun State Police Command has condemned the incident, stating, “unequivocally condemns any form of assault, harassment, and violence regardless of the individuals involved.”
The command emphasized its commitment to ensuring that justice is served and pledged to keep the public informed of relevant updates.
Meanwhile, emphasizing on the incident, CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated,
“The command will ensure that justice is served and members of the public will be abreast of relevant updates in due course.”
