Ogun NUJ, NMA Collaborate to Enhance Health Journalism

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Ogun and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council have partnered to improve health journalism in Ogun. This collaboration aims to elevate the quality of health-related news through a series of round table discussions designed to provide journalists with accurate, fact-based information.

The first of these discussions, themed “Bad News in Healthcare: The Impact of the Media,” is scheduled to take place on July 12th at the NMA House in Abeokuta, starting at 10 am. The event is open to all journalists and will feature insights from both medical and media experts.

The main objective of this partnership is to foster better understanding and reporting of health issues among media practitioners. By engaging directly with medical professionals, journalists will gain deeper insights into healthcare topics, which will enable them to deliver more accurate and informative news to the public.

The event encourages the participation of both journalists and medical practitioners from Ogun, promoting an environment of collaboration and learning. This initiative highlights the importance of accurate health journalism in shaping public perception and understanding of healthcare matters.

The round table discussion aims to address the current challenges in health reporting and explore ways to improve the quality of news coverage in this critical sector. With the involvement of experienced professionals from both fields, the event promises to be a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and professional development.

Through this partnership, the NMA and NUJ hope to set a new standard for health journalism in Ogun, ensuring that the public receives reliable and well-informed news on health-related issues. The initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing the role of the media in promoting public health awareness and education.
