Ogun Governor Enforces Price Control, Suspends Levies

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has announced plans to introduce a price control mechanism to address the rising cost of food items in the state.

He revealed that the state government will reactivate its Bulk Purchasing Company, now rebranded as the Gateway Trading Company, which will start operating in four zones.

This initiative aims to offer food items at prices significantly lower than regular market rates.

In addition, Governor Abiodun has suspended all market levies except for development and environmental charges, which are necessary for market improvement.

These measures were disclosed during a meeting with market leaders, including the Iyaloja General, Chief (Mrs.) Yemisi Abass, at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta.

The governor emphasized that these steps are part of his administration’s efforts to alleviate the financial burden on the public and ensure more affordable access to food.
