Makinde Pledges Development as PDP Rallies in Iseyin; Unveils Plans for New Road Projects

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, has thrown his weight behind the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates ahead of the upcoming local government elections. During his visit to Iseyin to endorse PDP candidates in Iseyin, Kajola, Itesiwaju, and Iwajowa federal constituency, the governor challenged opposition parties to show evidence of their readiness for the election instead of resorting to accusations of rigging against the PDP on radio stations.
Governor Makinde also reminded the opposition of the significant infrastructural projects undertaken by his administration since 2019, including road constructions and the establishment of a higher institution in Iseyin. He criticized the APC, highlighting their minimal achievements in eight years of governance, particularly in the construction of roads in the Oke Ogun zone.
Additionally, Governor Makinde announced plans to expand the ongoing road construction projects in Ijio – Iwere – Ile to Ilero, Otu, and Alaga communities. He revealed that once the 76.67 km Ogbomoso – Fapote – Iseyin road is commissioned in the next five weeks, construction will commence simultaneously on the Iseyin – Igboora and Okeho – Iganna roads to facilitate agricultural activities in the region.
Furthermore, the governor assured stakeholders of impending political dividends, emphasizing the importance of rewarding party members and supporters for their dedication to the PDP. He urged party members to mobilize for victory in the forthcoming elections.
During the flag presentation ceremony, the PDP chairmanship candidates for various local governments were endorsed, including Hon. Bisi Fadiran, Hon. Akeem Mustapha, Hon. Ojo Monsuru Olayemi, and Hon. Oyewumi Murtala Abiodun, along with their running mates.
Prominent PDP leaders present at the campaign included Alhaji Kunmi Yunus Mustapha, Senator Gbenga Babalola, Barrister Adeniyi Farinto, Chief Alli Oyedeji, Hon. Abiodun Olasupo Adeola, Hon. Dele Adeola, Hon. Shina Peller, and others.
Representatives from the PDP state executive committee, including Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Hon. James Olukunle, Mr. Ogunsina Michael, Hon. Yusuf Adekunle, Al-hasan Sakirat, Akeem Tiamiyu, Tijani Bashir, and Niniola Abideen, were also in attendance.
