The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State recently sought additional support from the Nigerian Army to safeguard critical national assets within the state. The NSCDC Commandant, Olatunde Maku, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two agencies during a visit to Col. Mohammed Abubakar, Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment Nigerian Army in Onitsha.
Maku commended the existing fruitful relationship between security agencies and highlighted the Nigerian Army’s crucial role in supporting NSCDC’s mandate. He specifically mentioned joint efforts in protecting critical national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure, as well as collaborative initiatives in training, combating illegal activities such as oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism, and tackling petroleum-related crimes.
He stressed that such inter-agency cooperation was essential for eliminating practices detrimental to economic growth and overall development in the state.
In response, Col. Mohammed Abubakar expressed gratitude for Maku’s visit and pledged increased support, collaboration, and synergy between the Nigerian Army and NSCDC. He emphasized the necessity of collective efforts in addressing security challenges, recognizing NSCDC as a trusted partner in internal security operations.
Abubakar reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to assisting NSCDC in achieving its objectives in Anambra State, emphasizing the shared purpose of ensuring national security. He emphasized the importance of continuous communication and cooperation between security agencies to effectively combat criminal elements and safeguard public interests.
