The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has shown its preparation for the nationwide protests starting on August 1.

This initiative, led by State Commandant Maku Olatunde, aims to ensure a safe and secure environment while asserting the command’s presence in public areas.

The operation began at the command headquarters in Awka and extended through major routes including the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Ziks Avenue, Regina Caeli Junction, Kwata Junction, and culminated at the Head Bridge in Onitsha.

The display demonstrated a strong security presence in these key locations.

Commandant Olatunde stated that this show of force, which will continue until August 12, highlights the agency’s preparedness to secure critical national assets and infrastructure.

He stated that the measure aims to prevent and respond to potential incidents of vandalism, breaches of peace, and lawlessness that might arise during the planned nationwide protest.

“The coordinated display of force with other security agencies in Anambra State, within their respective areas of expertise, sends a clear message that the state’s security apparatus is ready to take decisive action against any individuals who may disguise themselves as protesters to disrupt the peace and security of the state,” Olatunde said.

He cautioned young people against being manipulated to harm law-abiding citizens or damage critical assets and public infrastructure provided by the government.

He urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities that could threaten the peace of Anambra State.

Furthermore, Commandant Olatunde advised officers deployed for the protest to maintain professionalism, stressing that any misconduct would be addressed promptly.

He reiterated the importance of caution, vigilance, and the use of de-escalation techniques to ensure a peaceful and orderly outcome
