NSCDC Arrests Five with 20,000 Liters of Stolen Crude Oil in Abia

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five individuals and recovered 20,000 liters of stolen crude oil in Abia State.

This was announced in a statement by NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale, shared on the agency’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

The operation was led by the Commandant General Special Intelligence Squad, Commandant Appolos Dandaura.

According to Dandaura, the arrests followed a midnight raid in the Umielechi/Izam community, based on credible intelligence regarding the theft of oil from a vandalized pipeline.

“We acted swiftly on the intelligence we received, resulting in the apprehension of the five suspects, who were caught with the stolen crude oil packed in cellophane bags,” he stated.

The suspects, identified as Danniel Augustine (20), Moses Friday (23), Igboshe Musua (42), Sadiq Yunusa (28), and Dozie Ugo (33), were apprehended near the Obuzor ASA axis while attempting to escape on motorcycles.

Dandaura also reported the seizure of two Dalong Super Wolf motorcycles, a Qlink 150-ES Electric Start motorcycle, and a Nasara Super D-S 150 motorcycle, all used in the commission of the crime.

Reaffirming the NSCDC’s commitment to combating oil theft and vandalism, Dandaura emphasized the organization’s zero-tolerance policy as directed by Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Audi.

He assured that the corps would continue to protect critical national assets and infrastructure.

In related news, the NSCDC previously reported the arrest of seven suspects involved in illegal petroleum dealings in Woji, Port Harcourt, where a barge and three boats loaded with diesel were seized.
