As groups continue to campaign for the full implementation of the Not too young to run bill, the Emerging Political Leaders organization has revealed its plans to commission the state Secretariat in Ilorin, the kwara state capital.
This was part of the resolution of EPL kwara state chapter during its 1st meeting held in Ilorin on Sunday.
Speaking during the meeting, the EPL kwara state coordinator Mohammed Mohammed emphasized that the organization is not a political party but a platform which provides youths and emerging leader opportunity to share experiences and critically dissect relevant issues of national concern with a view to charting a workable and innovative model for development oriented governance in Nigeria.
He noted that the newly acquired secretariat which is the first to be set up aside the National Secretariat in Abuja, will serve as a point of contact for activities and programmes across the 16 local government of the state.
According to him, the body has put various measures in place to ensure a new face to politics nationwide while ensuring it is not hijacked by any political body for selfish interest.
“EPL is not a political party and we are not intending to change to one in the future. The vision is to inspire and nurture a plane society that meets the aspirations and needs of the great number of its citizen. It is important for the youths to know their rights from privileges.
“Youth should stop been used as thugs but rather they should be determined to participate in governance that is centered on development. Everyone one has a potential and gift but most of these potentials have to be triggered by a means and that is what EPL is here to do.” He added
Meanwhile, the EPL has inaugurated a State Executives aswell as Central Working Committee for the 2018 State Summit while nomination of delegates for the 2018 Abuja National Summit has also commenced.
