The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s inclusive governance, stating that it has overshadowed the controversy surrounding his Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Reverend Yakubu Pam, Chairman of Northern CAN, praised the president’s efforts, saying, “For me, the most important thing is a government that is inclusive and as far as they have done Muslim-Muslim ticket, we have also seen reasonably inclusiveness.”
Pam emphasized the importance of having a Christian as the number two citizen, stating,
“The Presidency will be good to bring a Christian as number two. We will appreciate it, there is nothing wrong with that”.
He also highlighted the need for the government to address insecurity, saying,
“We know the desire of people is to see that insecurity is addressed so that they can go about their normal daily activities without fear.”
The Northern CAN chairman acknowledged the challenges still facing Christians in Northern Nigeria, including difficulties in acquiring land for church buildings and marginalization in political appointments.
However, he appreciated the efforts made by the president and his administration to address these issues.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, represented by his Chief of Staff, Christopher Tarka, assured that President Tinubu is committed to promoting good governance across the country.
Akume noted that the president’s actions, particularly during the last Christmas season, demonstrate his commitment to the welfare of all Nigerians.
