The Kwara State Government said it has not made any appointment for the position of the Vice Chancellor of the State Owned University.

This is coming following a recent publication going viral online on the appointment of a new vice chancellor for the institution.

Speaking with Campus Focus in a phone chat today (Sunday), the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor,  Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye said only an handing over was done by immediate past Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’allah to the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the University Prof. Saka Mahammud.

Ajakaye who said it a normal routine, stated that Mahammud is now the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.

“No appointment of KWASU VC was done. What happened was just a normal routine. The immediate Vice Chancellor has tenure and was supposed to stay for a specific period and it has elapsed. Now he is going somewhere else and has handed over to the deputy vice chancellor Administration who will now serve as Acting Vice Chancellor.”

Recall that the former Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’allah was issued a compulsory sabbatical leave by the Abdulfatai Ahmed led government which was later resolved after series of intervention by stakeholders in the state.

Na’allah was however recently appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja.
