The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern response to Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, emphasizing that no individual is above the party.
This development comes after Wike’s remarks during the PDP state congress held at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
During the congress, Wike warned other PDP governors against meddling in the affairs of the party in Rivers State, declaring, “Let me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of the PDP from us.
“I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody. If they try that, we will put fire in their states.”
In response to Wike’s comments, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, addressed the ongoing tensions during a press conference in Abuja.
Ologunagba stated, “What I can tell you is that nobody is above this party. The PDP is the People’s Democratic Party, and we stand by our principles and values.”
He further elaborated on the party’s stance, saying, “We have established reconciliation and disciplinary committees to handle any disputes within the party. These bodies have been given a clear mandate, and we will await their report. The PDP is a party governed by rules, and everyone must adhere to them.”
