Nine Students to bag first class at PCU Maiden Convocation

Nine Students will be awarded first class degrees as a total of 96 students will be graduating at Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan maiden convocation ceremony.

The overall best graduating student, Omilani Omoniyi of the Economics Department has been offered automatic employment in the University.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Julius Kola Oloke made the disclosure on Friday during a press conference held at the University’s boardroom.

According to him, the Chancellor of the University, Bishop Francis Wale Oke and other dignitaries will be in attendance to confer Honorary Degree and Award of First Class Degrees and Prizes to the Students.

He said during the time of study, the students “have been trained to be employers of labour and not job seekers. He stressed that their training is also to enable them to commercialize their areas of specialization. To this effect, each graduating student has an academic degree and entrepreneurship certificate”.

He added that the students have registered their businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The Vice-Chancellor, also highlighted the achievements recorded by the University of which was the COVID-19 pandemic which the University was able to partner with Helix Biogene Institute to gather researchers from several institutions to construct two COVID-19 Vaccines.

Speaking further, Prof Oloke, said the University which took off with 12 Academic Programmes in 2018 now has 17 Academic Programmes that has been accredited by the National Universities Commission.

“Some of these programmes includes, Bsc Accounting, Bsc Microbiology, Bsc Cyber Security, Bsc International Relations, Bsc Software Engineering, Bsc Mass Communication, Bsc Procurement, Bsc Management, Bsc Economic, Bsc Bio Chemistry, and Bsc Business Administration.

The maiden convocation ceremony of the institution, will hold from Sunday November 6 to Friday November 11.
