Nigeria’s Frederick secures permanent spot with EPL

Nigeria’s rising star, Benjamin Chiemela Frederick, has secured a permanent spot with English Premier League club, Brentford, according to Soccernet.ng. At just 18, Benjamin adds to Brentford’s roster as a promising centre-back.

Hailing from Moses Simon’s academy in Nigeria, Benjamin’s journey to Brentford involved interest from European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and FC Porto. However, Brentford emerged victorious, initially signing him on loan last summer with an option to buy.

Confirming the news, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that the buy-option clause has been activated, and Benjamin has inked a four-year deal with Brentford. He joins fellow Nigerian Frank Onyeka at the club and will continue honing his skills with the team B setup.

Despite his young age, Benjamin has already made strides, earning a spot on Brentford’s substitute bench for Premier League clashes against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as the Emirates FA Cup match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Expressing his excitement, Benjamin remarked, “Signing permanently for Brentford is a great moment for me and my family…” He also thanked the coaching staff for their support in his development.

Benjamin’s talent was showcased at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he represented Nigeria, contributing to their third-place finish in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.”
